Canvas Apps get slow for predictable reasons, and they get hard to maintain for predictable reasons too. Both are avoidable if you set your development standards early, and we go through the ones that matter: YAML, canvas and code components, HTML and custom connectors, and how each one earns its place in an app that has to stay quick.
