🧠 Model Context Protocol vs. Connectors: Rethinking Integration in the Power Platform 💡

Where MCP fits, where connectors still win, and how they work together.

Abstract

Model Context Protocol went from unknown to unavoidable in about a year, and providers across the industry picked it up fast. Microsoft did too, and paired it with an old friend of ours: (custom) connectors. We break down the differences between the two in the Power Platform: how each one works, where each one fits, and how they compare, with demos showing how to get started with MCP and how it sits next to connectors rather than replacing them. Aimed at solution architects, developers and IT leaders who build integrations.
